Messages, petitions all count and the more the merrier. However the County Council also take into consideration letters of concern sent in from local residents, affected individuals and parents of the school children etc.
Please therefore consider sending your own letter to Councilors and/or directors of the Council to register your concerns and support for the campaign.

Obviously, if your letter can be in your own words and expressing your own views then that is the best option. If you are really stuck please consider writing something along the following lines:
'...With great relief I welcome the news that there is verbal commitment by the Area Traffic and Safety Officer, Mike Hawkins, to this appeal. I understand his report will be submitted to you for approval and subsequent allocation of funding...'
'...I respect the difficult job you do to disburse funding around the county to improve road safety. I cannot over emphasise the importance of this campaign to the community of Morley and hope that you will be considerate to our appeal. We have lobbied the County Council since 1993, and with ever increasing traffic density our situation becomes more urgent. Please Mr Lucas, look hard at our reasoning which the current campaign brings to your attention, and give this long awaited safety measure at Morley the importance it deserves before a serious injury or worse is the consequence of delay...'
